Why should you say yes to mission work?

Have you ever heard that this job is only for some people? We are sure that you have, and sadly it has become more "normal" than you imagine. If you have ever heard these words, we want to challenge you to take them out of your mind and embrace the Words of Christ to His Church.

Missionary work is not for "chosen" people. It is true that not all of us are called to leave our whole lives and go to a nation whose language and culture you do not understand to preach the gospel, but we are all called to be its witnesses wherever we are.

If you study college, be a witness there. If you are a lawyer, be a witness there too. If you are a cook, be a witness there too. If you are a painter, be a witness too. If you are a soccer player, be a witness too. No matter what you are, be a witness where you are, that's your field of action.

A witness is a person who is present or acquires direct and true knowledge of something. Do you realize? People must listen to what you have witnessed, what you have personally experienced, what no one else has told you about God and his redemptive work in your life. That's what being a witness is all about.

In Acts 1:8 was said:

“But I promise you this—the Holy Spirit will come upon you and you will be seized with power. And you will be my messengers to Jerusalem, throughout Judea, the distant provinces—even to the remotest places on earth!”

We were all called to be. Missionary work is done in the field of action that God has given you. To many He gives a university, to others a coffee shop, to others a television program, and to others a nation on the other side of the world.

No matter where you are, no one is more valuable than the other, because we are ALL called to missions. That's your field, be a missionary there.

If you know that God is calling you to start a business to support poor people, to set up a practice in a community in the Sierra Tarahumara in Mexico, to raise a family that transmits the fundamental values of the Bible, or to a Buddhist people in East Asia, take important steps and do a Discipleship Training School in YWAM.
