History

The vision to begin YWAM Morelia began several years ago before our team ever came to this city. A young girl attending a DTS in Chapala, Mexico in 2008 dreamt of something similar existing in Morelia one day and shared the vision with friends and leaders. In 2012 Daniel and Katie Holmberg had a dream of establishing a new YWAM Campus in Mexico—something fresh and distinct. They had a vision of professionals coming and being equipped to go out and through their vocation transform every place that their feet would touch. In their dream there were several key elements regarding the location: (1) access to an international airport, (2) in the mountains, (3) a city of over half a million people, (4) a city surrounded by indigenous communities, (5) the historical centre of Mexico, and (6) a cultural and artistic heart of Mexico.

After some research, they traveled with a team to several cities in Mexico that fit this description—one of which was Morelia. Upon arrival, they fell in love with the city and knew that this was HOME.  Almost 9 1/2 months after their trip to Morelia, they were visiting again, and Katie went into labour with their first son.  This marked the Word that God was speaking, "it is time, and it will be quicker than you had planned.  When birth begins, there is nothing that can stop it, and the vision has been birthed."

La visión para empezar JUCUM Morelia empezó muchos años antes de que nuestro equipo si quiera llegara a la ciudad. Una chica joven que llegó a hacer una EDE a Chapala, México en 2008 soñó con algo similar en Morelia y un día compartió la visión con amigos y líderes. En el 2012 Daniel y Katie Holmberg tuvieron un sueño de establecer un campus nuevo de JUCUM en México, algo fresco y distinto. Ellos tuvieron una visión de profesionistas llegando y siendo equipados para ir a través de su vocación transformando cada lugar que sus pies tocaran. En su sueño había muchos elementos clave acerca de la ubicación: (1) acceso a un aeropuerto internacional, (2) en las montañas, (3) una ciudad de más de un millón de personas, (4) una ciudad rodeada de comunidades indígenas, (5) el centro histórico de México, y (6) el corazón artístico y cultural de México.

Después de investigar, ellos viajaron con un equipo a varias ciudades de México que cumplían con esa descripción - una de las cuales era Morelia. Desde que llegaron, se enamoraron con la ciudad y supieron que habían llegado a CASA. Casi 9 meses y medio después del viaje, volvieron a visitar la ciudad, durante ese viaje, Katie tuvo su primer hijo. Esto marcó la palabra que Dios les había dado: “es tiempo, y será más rápido de lo que lo habías planeado. Cuando el parto comienza, no hay nada que lo detenga y la visión ya había nacido”.

Within a few months, they made the important decision to go to Mazatlan, Mexico to finish building their team and initiate the rather quick process of moving to Morelia.  "The vision has been through many, and many more will come, but we know that Morelia is in the heart of God and we are so excited to see all that the future will hold!"

Algunos meses después tomaron la decisión de ir a Mazatlán, México para terminar de construir su equipo e iniciar el proceso acelerado de mudarse a Morelia. “La visión ha pasado por muchos, y muchos más vendrán, pero sabemos que Morelia está en el corazón de Dios y estamos muy emocionados de ver todo lo que el futuro tiene”
